UAE - Mubasher: The value of Chinese exports of medical supplies to the UAE hiked by 357% to $624 million in the second quarter (Q2) of 2020, compared to around $137 million in the same quarter of 2019, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Hence, China is the largest exporter of medical supplies to the UAE, as shown by a new analysis by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry based on data from TradeMap.

Surgical facemasks represented 40% or $247.8 million of the total value of China's exports of medical products to the UAE, followed by medical gowns valued at $60 million and face shields valued at $53.8 million.

Meanwhile, the number of companies registered on Dubai Chamber’s online marketplace for personal protective equipment (PPE) has jumped 340% to 66 companies since its launch earlier this year to curb the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
